2017 NFL Mock Draft: Free agency provides shakeup
By Brad Weiss
For the past couple of mock drafts, we had the Buffalo Bills selecting a quarterback with the tenth overall pick in April. However, after the team agreed to a restructured deal with current starter Tyrod Taylor this offseason, we feel the team will bolster their wide receiver group with their first round pick. The Bills have a bunch of players in place to be a very good team in 2017, as the organization tries to get back to the postseason for the first time since 1999.
The Bills brought in a new head coach this offseason, giving Sean McDermott his first run as a head coach in the NFL. McDermott is going to go with a player with experience under center, and Taylor has played some good football since being named the starter. The biggest issue for the Bills on offense is the lack of firepower on the outside, and with the loss of Robert Woods this offseason, they need to replace his production.
John Ross was one of those players who really turned heads during the NFL Scouting Combine, setting the record for the fastest 40-yard dash. Ross ran an incredible 4.22 40, breaking Chris Johnson’s record of 4.24. Star wide receiver Sammy Watkins has struggled to stay healthy during his NFL career, and if he battles to stay in the lineup in 2017, the Bills should have a legit WR1 in John Ross to take his place.
