Dalvin Cook

RB, Florida State

For the past couple of months, we have slotted the Philadelphia Eagles to grab a wide receiver at No. 14. The Eagles won the coin flip with the Indianapolis Colts to pick at 14, which means they will get the first shot to land Florida State running back Dalvin Cook. Philadelphia did a great job bolstering the wide receiver position in free agency, clearing the way for them to grab a feature back in the first round in April.

The additions of Torrey Smith and Alshon Jeffery will give the Eagles the talent they need on the outside, and with Jordan Matthews still on the roster, quarterback Carson Wentz will have a plethora of options to throw to. The running back position is a place of need, as while Darren Sproles had a great season in 2016, he cannot be relied upon to shoulder the load. Bringing in a player of Cook’s caliber would give the Eagles a legitimate three-down back, taking some of the pressure off of Wentz in the passing game.

Cook had a record-breaking career at Florida State, as it took him only three seasons to be the school’s all-time leading rusher. Not only is Cook a beast in the run game, but he can also be a threat in the passing game. The Eagles need to keep moving forward in a very tough NFC East, and Cook would give them an option they have not had in a long time.
