Jonathan Allen

DL, Alabama

For the second straight free agency period, the Jacksonville Jaguars are making a ton of moves to fix their roster. While the 2016 free agents did not work out, that has not stopped the front office in Jacksonville from doing everything they can to bring in quality players. The addition of Tom Coughlin running the football side of the business has brought immediate dividends, and the team looks ready to make a run in 2017.

The Jaguars have already bolstered their defense with the addition of cornerback A.J. Bouye and defensive end Calais Campbell, and they fixed their issues at safety with the signing of Barry Church. We have been saying that Jamal Adams would be the pick here, but with Church in the fold, the Jags can add another big body to the defensive line. Jonathan Allen may be the most NFL-ready player in this draft, and he would be a perfect fit with Campbell along the Jags D-Line.

The only issue with Allen has been the problem with his shoulder, which has been a nagging injury for sometime. That is the only thing keeping him out of the top-two picks, and if his shoulder does not prove to be a problem, he should enjoy a very long, productive NFL career. The Jags are going to be a very good team in 2017, and if Blake Bortles can move the ball consistently on offense, they just may be in the running to win a very tough AFC South division.
