Stephen Curry filled out his NCAA Tournament bracket and his winner shouldn’t surprise a lot of folks

With the NCAA Tournament fast approaching, Seth Davis, host for Campus Insiders, swung by Golden State Warriors’ practice to see what teams Stephen Curry favored and where his allegiances lie. Davis found out that nepotism reigns supreme with Curry’s March Madness picks.

While his own Davidson Wildcats didn’t make the field this year, Curry went with another small North Carolina school to cut down the nets. He gave his younger brother Seth a shoutout with his selection of the Duke Blue Devils to win it all, picking one of the hottest teams in the country to burn through the bracket. You can dispute the hot-hand fallacy and whether or not momentum exists, but I’ll leave it someone who knows a thing or two about riding a heat check when he uses it to justify his champion.

Curry had the Kansas Jayhawks losing to Duke in the final, rebounding in a big way after their disappointing showing in the Big 12 Tournament. The Arizona Wildcats and UCLA Bruins rounded out his Final Four. Coincidentally (or not) Arizona is Warriors coach Steve Kerr’s alma mater, and while Curry didn’t mention any personal connection to UCLA, it is a team headlined by Lonzo Ball, son of the great LaVar, who recently claimed he’d beat Michael Jordan in a game of 1-on-1.

Though Curry mostly favored the blue chip schools, he chose Butler to make the Elite Eight over UNC for his big upset special. Davis did a good job of quickly pointing out that perhaps the pick was due to being overlooked in Roy Williams’ recruiting process.

Other picks of note were Notre Dame toppling a one-loss Gonzaga squad and Creighton over Michigan.  Curry chose the Fighting Irish since they’re sponsored by Under Armour, and the Blue Jays because friend and former teammate Anthony Tolliver is an alum.
