Fifth Round

169

Storm Norton

Offensive Tackle, Toledo Rockets

With a lack of firepower atop the 2017 offensive line class, perhaps it is better to go prospecting for a gem up front during the day three part of the draft. Offensive tackle looks to be the worst position group in the entire draft. Why not take a flier on Storm Norton of the Toledo Rockets at No. 169 in the fifth round?

Houston likes the Rockets, but that mostly applies to Beards and Dreams on the Toyota Center hardwood. Toledo has been a viable MAC football team for some time now. The Rockets have a lot of promising pro prospects entering the draft on the offensive side of the ball: running back Kareem Hunt, tight end Michael Roberts and maybe Norton at tackle.

Seventh Round

243

Eric Saubert

Tight End, Drake Bulldogs

Many NFL teams like to use two tight end sets on offense, especially the New England Patriots. Texans head coach Bill O’Brien used to the be the quarterbacks coach for the Patriots, so he knows all about that type of offensive philosophy.

Houston could go with Drake Bulldogs tight end Eric Saubert at No. 243 in the seventh round to hopefully assemble a two-tight end set with C.J. Fiedorowicz. Saubert would be a steal in the seventh round. He could have been a fifth round pick most years if not for a ridiculously deep tight end class in 2017.
