Team USA was spared an additional run by Team Dominican Republic because of an insane Adam Jones catch.

Adam Jones proved to be an awful teammate – at least in the eyes of Manny Machado in the World Baseball Classic. In the later innings of the game, Team USA and Team Dominican Republic were separated by only two runs. Manny Machado was at-bat for the Dominican Republic and his hit appeared – at the time – to be a homerun. His Baltimore Orioles teammate, however, had different plans for his MLB teammate.

Following the homerun robbery, Manny Machado tipped his hat off to Jones and rightfully so. Over the course of the last couple innings prior to the seventh, the game would belong to the Dominican Republic. However, the trail of fate changed for Team USA with some batting power by Ian Kinsler and Giancarlo Stanton. With some much-needed run support, Team USA would now lead 4-2 heading into the seventh inning.

Since the 2-run homerun by Stanton, which traveled at an estimated 117 miles per hour, the momentum has been on Team USA’s side for the most part. Earlier in the game, though, fielding proved to be a major setback and that cost Team USA a couple of runs by the Dominican Republic. Nonetheless, this game is important both teams, since it’s an elimination game.

Depending on the outcome of the game (Team USA leads 6-3 in the bottom of the ninth), the winner will end up facing a tough Japan team in the Championship Round. Two other tickets have already been punched – one by Team Netherlands, the Cinderella of the WBC, and the other belonging to Team Puerto Rico. Both will play each other on Monday night, while the second semi-final game will be played on Tuesday. The World Baseball Classic will conclude on Wednesday night a Dodger Stadium.
