Joe Mixon

Running back, Oklahoma

A very controversial pick, and rightfully so, as Joe Mixon already has a strike against him with his domestic violence allegations. However, he’s a first round talent and the Jacksonville Jaguars need to add talent all around the field. Mixon could wind up being the best running back in this class.

It’s understandable if the Jaguars want nothing to do with him. After all, they got burned repeatedly by Justin Blackmon. However, this is a risk the Jaguars ought to be willing to take. Unlike Blackmon, Mixon won’t be a first round pick. Once the third round starts, the chances of a draft pick panning out starts to decline. Taking a chance on Mixon is a good idea when you compare the risk and reward.

On the field, he can be a game changer. Mixon has proven this time and time again while at Oklahoma. He’s a versatile running back who can make an impact whether he’s rushing the ball or catching it out of the backfield. T.J. Yeldon hasn’t developed as planned, so the Jaguars might need to draft a running back at some point during this draft. Why not go after the most talented one who doesn’t have a significant injury history?
