West Brom: Sam Field

As a lifelong West Brom fan, Sam Field is living his boyhood dream of playing for the club. Field joined the club when he was 8 years old. After a decade in the youth system, he signed a four-year contract with the club in October of 2016. The central midfielder has been a cornerstone in the Baggies youth system since he arrived.

As a central midfielder, Field has bloomed as a defensive stopper and offensive catalyst. He thrives under pressure when he has the ball. His ability to pass effectively from either foot under pressure from pressing forwards makes him effective already despite his youth.

The Baggies are in the middle of their best ever season in the Premier League, and there will be plenty of competition in midfield for years to come, but with three starts and four substitute appearances this season, it’s clear Field is on manager Tony Pulis’ radar.

Field possesses the defensive fortitude and skill on the ball to break into the side. His Mousa Dembrle-like ease in tight situations make him a mouthwatering talent. Field has shown ability to stay composed in tight situations in the biggest of games. Despite only four appearances in all competitions for the Baggies, he’s had a savvy, calm presence for the squad.
