Liverpool: Ben Woodburn

A young Welsh international working his way up through the Liverpool youth system, Ben Woodburn has caught the eye of many in Merseyside. The 17-year-old became the third youngest debutant in Liverpool history back in November. Woodburn is one of the youngest players on this list, but given that he’s already made consistent appearances on the bench for Liverpool, his chances of establishing himself at the highest level seem promising.

Woodburn also became Liverpool’s youngest ever goal scorer when he scored against Leeds in the EFL Cup. That goal in itself won’t guarantee success, but it’s a sign of the level of talent we’re talking about here. As a relatively small player, Woodburn has always relied on movement and skill rather than strength in tight situations. The Welshman has blazing speed and the ability to turn on a dime when on the ball, and his delivery from wide areas has caught the eye during his appearances this season.

As with most young wide players, the next step for Woodburn’s improvement will be finding a way to have a consistent impact on the game over 90 minutes. In a system like Jurgen Klopp’s at Liverpool, there can be no passengers.
