Watford: Isaac Success

Watford spent around £12 million to buy Isaac Success last summer — not cheap for a 21-year-old, but his potential is vast. Success is a strong, powerful forward who has deceptive ability on the dribble. He hasn’t been a regular fixture for the Hornets this season, but has shown glimpses of his quality.

As Success continues to develop at Watford, his coaches will have to decide on the best use of his skills. Is he an out-and-out striker, or a wide attacker, or even a winger? That remains to be seen, but his composure in front of goal is impressive for a player of his age.

Perhaps the biggest criticism of Success’ is that he often plays at such a blistering pace, the quality of his execution suffers. As he improves and continues to grow as a player, he’ll need to understand when to use his speed and when to be patient.

Watford are not perhaps the best club for such a raw talent, given their lack of a clear playing philosophy and managerial turnover, but Success has all the tools to be successful. In the right system, he could be devastating.
