Dalvin Cook

RB, Florida State

For the past few months, we have been expecting the Philadelphia Eagles to draft a wide receiver with the No. 14 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Last year, rookie Carson Wentz had to depend on Jordan Matthews as his top option on the outside, and while Matthews played well, he is not a legit WR1. To combat that, the Eagles went out and signed Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith this past month, giving Wentz a plethora of options on the outside in 2017.

Running back Darren Sproles was a Pro Bowl player in 2016, but he is starting to get up there in age. The Eagles cannot rely on him to be the feature back next season, so going with a player like Dalvin Cook will be the play for them on draft night. Cook had a record-breaking career at Florida State, and will head to the draft as one of the top-two running backs in this draft class.

Philadelphia plays in a very tough division, and cannot afford to take a step back in 2017. The organization needs to continue to put the pieces around Wentz so he can develop, and having Cook standing behind him will make his life a lot easier next season. The Eagles should be in the mix for a playoff spot if they can play defense, as a they should be pretty loaded on offense when September rolls around.
