Mike Williams

WR, Clemson

Holding the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans swung a deal with the Los Angeles Rams, as they had no need to draft a quarterback at No. 1. The Titans selected Marcus Mariota in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft, and in 2016, he established himself as one of the better young arms in the game. Heading into 2017, the Titans need to bring in a true play-making wideout on the outside, and Mike Williams of Clemson is the best player at that position in this draft class.

So far this offseason, the Titans have made a couple of moves to bolster their defense. They filled a need at cornerback by giving big money to former New England Patriot Logan Ryan, and signed Jonathan Cyprien away from Jacksonville to be their safety. Those were two areas where the Titans may have used this pick prior to those signings, so it makes sense for them to grab Williams at No. 5.

Williams showed the kind of heart he has during the 2017 NCAA Championship Game, fighting off what appeared to be a concussion to make some huge plays for the Tigers. With a national title under his belt, Williams will head to the NFL with the confidence needed from a true WR1 at the next level. The Titans should be a playoff team this season, and with another pick later in round one, they just may be the favorite in the AFC South.
