Miami Dolphins: Quincy Wilson

The Miami Dolphins are in a similar situation the Detroit Lions find themselves in. They’ve both got a really good roster, but could use an upgrade in the secondary to better position themselves for another stab at the NFL Playoffs.

There are three cornerbacks that could be available for the Dolphins to use the No. 22 pick on: Ohio State’s Gareon Conley, Washington’s Sidney Jones and Florida’s Quincy Wilson. The right pick for the Dolphins to make is to take the Florida product at No. 22 and select Wilson.

One could argue that the Dolphins could also consider taking another Florida standout in the form of Teez Tabor, but his lack of power on the outside probably has him falling back to a second-round grade. Wilson had a great combine and has elevated himself into the conversation of being a top-five corner in this draft class.

Since Miami needs all the help it can get in the back-end, the Dolphins should exercise the though process of drafting the best secondary player available. It could be Wilson, but what Miami has to consider is taking a player that is accustomed to playing in humid conditions. Wilson checks that box from his three years starring in Gainesville for the Gators.

While at Florida, Wilson had 81 tackles, 4.5 for a loss of yardage, 14 passes defended and six interceptions in 37 games for the Gators. In short, Wilson put together a lot of tape in college for Miami to dissect so the Dolphins can figure out how to best feature him in their sub-par secondary in 2017.
