Best match from every WWE WrestleMania event in history

Edge vs. Mick Foley
Looking back on WrestleMania 22, I really wanted to go with John Cena vs. Triple H here, as I thought they had a very nice match, but it was just missing that little something. And while Vince McMahon vs. Shawn Michaels was better than it should have been, it wasn’t enough to steal the show but it is a little strange not to have Michaels in this spot as he has been and will be a few more times as we move forward here. Money in the Bank wasn’t as good as the year before and the triple threat match with Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio and Kurt Angle just couldn’t quite get over the top either. The women’s championship match between Trish Stratus and Mickie James was good as well but this one has to go to Mick Foley and Edge.
The intensity was right there from the start as Edge attacked Foley with a bat and wraps some cookie sheets around Foley’s head, hitting a dropkick with a “Caution” sign as well. You knew this match was hardcore rules, right? Edge hit a spear pretty quick but came up lame afterwards and Foley revealed he was wearing barbed wire underneath his first shirt, much like Bret Hart wearing the metal plate to counter Goldberg in WCW. Edge’s arm is already bleeding at this point and Foley went after him with the barbed wire bat after tying him up in the ropes. Lita jumped on Foley’s back and Mick hit the clothesline that sent everyone over the top in a spot I’d almost forgotten about until recently. After some more violence on the outside, including Mick’s knee bump over the steps, Edge was back in control and slammed Foley’s head into the ramp in a brutal spot. That one looked really good … or bad if you’re Mick Foley.
Edge had set up a table by this point and doused Foley in some lighter fluid before taking a few shots and nearly being hit with the conchairto. However, Lita was in again and Edge took advantage by hitting a DDT and smearing Foley’s face with the barbed wire. So nasty. The thumbtacks were out next but Foley reversed things and dropped Edge onto them, and it was easy to see that really got under Edge’s skin — see what I did there — and followed it up with Mr. Socko covered in wire to both Edge and Lita and there’s just blood everywhere. Mick then grabbed the lighter fluid and covered that same table on it but I never actually thought anyone would light the thing. But Lita did after hitting Mick in the knee with the bat and then Edge came in with a spear through the rope, into Foley and onto the table to get the win. Unreal finish to a highly entertaining match. Incredible.
