4. Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers might be past the early stages of “The Process”, but they’re still projected to have a high draft pick in the upcoming draft. Right now, the only area of the court they’ve yet to address is their backcourt. They’ve been skimming by with borderline NBA PG’s for the last few years and it’s time they used one of their many lottery picks on an upgrade in that area. Luckily, Ball is the exact type of guard they’ve been waiting on.

Ball’s best skill is his ability to impact a game without scoring or really needing the ball in his hands. This means he won’t take away touches from Joel Embiid, Dario Saric, or Ben Simmons and will be plenty happy just setting those guys up to excel. Even if his 3-point shot doesn’t translate over into the NBA he should still find ways to make those other guys great. However, the Sixers would be much happier with him if that shot carried over.

Their lack of shooting has been the biggest weakness on the roster and Ball’s ability to play off ball goes up by a lot if he has an outside shot. Without one he’ll need the ball in his hands more which means taking it out of Ben Simmons hands, who has no jumpshot, and that could lead to a roster full of talented guys that don’t work together. Ask the Orlando Magic how that will go. They’ll be the first to say that it goes very poorly. At this stage of the rebuild fit matters.
