High Salary PG

Kyrie Irving – Cleveland Cavaliers ($7900): Irving led the Cavs in fantasy points when these two teams met earlier in the season, putting up a 29/3/9 line good for 50.75 FP. That game went into overtime and the Spurs took it 118-115. The Spurs are a top-five defense against point guards, but they weren’t against Cleveland that night. Kyrie has the most reasonable salary for players that have super-high ceilings, and I like him in this game tonight.

Russell Westbrook – OKC Thunder ($12500): The Mavs have the top defense against point guards in the entire NBA. Russ had his way with them at home this season, but the Mavs shut him down the last time they played in Dallas when Westbrook shot just 8-24 and came nowhere near a triple-double. Westbrook has averaged 57 FP per game against Dallas this year, a total that would not even get him to 5x value. Keep that in mind in your search for an anchor tonight. Russ always has the ability to go large, but the matchup here certainly doesn’t lend itself to that.

Mike Conley – Memphis Grizzlies ($7500): The Kings are in the bottom half of the league when it comes to allowing fantasy points to point guards. Conley has averaged 35 FP per game against them this season, and he looks like a decent play on a night without a lot of high-priced point guards. This will be the fourth road game in a row for the Grizzlies and they did play yesterday. But Conley should be close to value tonight.

Elfrid Payton – Orlando Magic ($7100): Payton has averaged just 27.5 FP per game against Toronto this season, but you know the drill. Payton’s big games show up out of the ordinary, and he always has a chance to post a high number. He’s a GPP-only play and an interesting one if you want to save a bit of salary on the big names.
