High Value SF

Joe Johnson – Utah Jazz ($4100): I would like this play a lot more if Gordon Hayward sits, but it’s still a solid one even if he plays. Johnson erupted against the Pels earlier in the year when he drained 10-of-14 shots including 6-for-8 from downtown for a total of 35.25 FP. Johnson should be in line for about 25 minutes if Hayward plays and likely more if he sits. JJ is my top value play at small forward tonight.

Tony Allen – Memphis Grizzlies ($4000): As I noted earlier, Allen doesn’t have a very high ceiling, but he has been very steady of late with six straight games of 20 FP or more. He’s averaged 27 against the Kings this season over three games. Occasionally he can pop into the 30s, but if he gives you a high-20s total that would rock.

Terrence Ross – Orlando Magic ($5000): If you’re a believer in the revenge factor, then pencil in Terrence Ross for your lineups tonight. Ross is now starting in Orlando, and you can bet he’d like to lay it on his former team. The defensive matchup isn’t likely in his favor against either Demarre Carroll or P.J. Tucker, but Ross has been getting around 30 minutes and 10 shots per game of late, enough to hit value if his shot is on.

P.J. Tucker – Toronto Raptors ($4400): Tucker has been outstanding for Toronto since coming over in the trade. You could make the case that they are better off with him in the lineup than Carroll. Tucker has been crashing the boards recently and has three straight games of 25 or more FP. Demarre Carroll might sit out tonight (or any night, really) so Tucker could make for an excellent value play if that’s the case.
