Cordrea Tankersley

Cornerback, Clemson

The NFC East is quickly turning into an arms race with all the great receivers. Philadelphia has to face both the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants twice a year. Currently, they have no one who can shut down Dez Bryant and Odell Beckham Junior. Cordrea Tankersley from Clemson would be a great pick here.

Philly’s defense thrives off physical corners. Tankersley is not afraid to get physical with receivers. While he has discipline issues he must work on, he has what it takes to lock down bigger receivers. Tankersley got nine interceptions and 120 tackles in his final two collegiate seasons. At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, he has solid size and a nice frame.

Tankersley is an excellent tackler who can provide support in the run game as well. The Philadelphia Eagles need to add playmakers on their defense after their best corner netted just two interceptions in 2016. Tankersley would be the best fit if he’s available.

However, he has some minor technique issues. Namely, Tankersley must utilize his hands better, as he got away with a lot of would have been NFL penalties in college. But he’s got the athleticism, size, and tenacity needed to hang with Dez, OBJ, and all the other top receivers.
