Frank Ntilikina is an 18-year old guard who plays for Strasbourg in France. In 17.3 minutes per game this season, he’s averaged 5.7 points on a 58.4 true shooting percentage. If Ntilikina lives up to his potential, he’ll ultimately end up as a point guard who can run an offense and operate the pick-and-roll. This is something he’s done in youth international competitions with France. The key to opening up Ntilikina’s game is his shooting. He’s made 41.1 percent of his 3s across all competitions this season, but struggled from deep in the past.
At 6-foot-5 with a long wingspan, Ntilikina has ideal size for defending opposing point guards and could also handle most wings once he adds strength to his frame. His length can be meddlesome and has resulted in a steal rate better than 2.0 percent this season.
The good news is that if Ntilikina washes out as a point guard, he has the size and shooting to slot in as a 3-and-D shooting guard. That makes him a slightly safer suggestion at this stage than some other players. Still, for Dallas, the hope should be that Ntilikina develops into the point guard of the future.
