Ryan Tannehill

Quarterback, Miami Dolphins

Ryan Tannehill has been a slightly below average franchise quarterback since coming into the league in 2010. His numbers have been solid quarterbacking the Miami Dolphins, but he didn’t lead Miami to the AFC Playoffs until last fall.

Tannehill is extremely athletic, as he is a former wide receiver at Texas A&M. The arm talent is good, as he has been an accurate passer throughout his NFL career at 62.7 percent. However, his pocket presence has never been tremendous nor does he always make the right decision upstairs.

That being said, Tannehill has shown a proclivity to coming up in big moments. He can play a terrible first three quarters of a game, but can overcome that mental quicksand and help the Dolphins still contend for victory.

What has been excellent for Tannehill’s continued development is having Adam Gase as his head coach. Gase is one of the best offensive minds in the game and usually gets the most out of the quarterbacking talent around him. Though cut short by three games down to a gruesome knee injury, Tannehill was on pace to have statistically his best season as a professional.

He set career highs in completion percentage (67.1), touchdown percentage (4.9), yards per attempt (7.7) and quarterback rating (93.5). Pre-injury, it seems that Tannehill has unlocked something in his manner of playing quarterback. He is entering his prime at age 29 in 2017. Miami should be pretty good regardless of how Tannehill’s knee holds up.
