The college basketball transfer market is hot right now and players are being added to it daily.

There are some college basketball players who have already landed at their dream destination after transferring out of a situation that they weren’t comfortable in. These players have committed to their new schools and will hopefully succeed.

Other players are former one or two-star recruits who were not looked at by the big-time programs because they were rated so low. Some of these players played well in their first few years with the lower level teams and now are trying to get noticed by the powerhouses of the college basketball world.

And then there are the players who came out of high school highly touted and ready to shine. These players, for one reason or another, couldn’t make it with the current team they are on and want to try a different setting.

Some of these players aren’t good and were extremely overhyped coming out of high school, but then there are some who just had a bad run of things with their former team.

There are a lot of players to sift through in the transfer market but we have narrowed it down to the top five transfer players in 2017.

No. 5 – Tevin Mack

The Texas Longhorns basketball team struggled this season despite having some talented players on the court. This came as a surprise to many, including myself. Texas finished 11-22 overall and 4-12 in the Big 12. This was not a good season for the team and now that the year is over, it looks like the offseason will be getting even worse.

It was announced in late February that forward Tevin Mack will be transferring out of the program. This hurts the team but came as no surprise after he was suspended indefinitely for violating a team rule back in early January.

Despite the turmoil with the Longhorns, Mack is still a good player and someone that is hot in the transfer market. He played two productive seasons with Texas and will still have two years of eligibility remaining after he sits out the 2017-18 campaign.

Mack came into the Longhorns program as a highly rated recruit. He was a four-star prospect who was the No. 68 player in the class of 2015. He was a huge get for head coach Shaka Smart at Texas.

In the first year with Texas, Mack averaged 13.3 minutes, 5.1 points and 2 rebounds per game. Those were decent freshman stats and he would build on that this past season. He averaged 31.1 minutes in his final year with the Longhorns and in that time averaged 14.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

This type of production on the transfer market is wanted. There are several schools after Mack including Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, East Carolina, Florida State, Wake Forest and DePaul.

Whomever snags Mack will be getting a good basketball player. If he can stay out of team trouble then they will be getting a gem.
