WWE WrestleMania 33: Ideal booking for each match

Cruiserweight Championship Match: Neville (c) vs. Austin Aries

Despite the fact that the WWE Cruiserweight Championship match is on the Kickoff Show, this truly has the potential to be one of the best matches on the show. Considering how forgettable much of the division’s action has been to this point, the heel work of Neville and the debut of Austin Aries in the ring to challenge him has been phenomenal.

As far as booking goes, though, the smart move here would be fore Aries to get the victory. Even if he’s a veteran of the business, he’s still relatively new to the mainstream WWE audience. As such, he could use the rub of getting a triumphant win at WWE WrestleMania 33. What’s more, that should follow with a heel-turn sometime soon. Aries is talented in any aspect of being a professional wrestler, but his best work is as a heel.

SmackDown Women’s Championship Match: Alexa Bliss (c) vs. All Available Women on Roster

Had the events of the go-home episode of SmackDown Live not occurred, this would be much harder to assess. However, given the return of Naomi, it’s now quite simple as to who should win the match. Everyone “felt the glow” when she won the title at Elimination Chamber, and then were subsequently disappointed when she had to vacate it due to injury. Thus, it stands to reason that she would go over well as the winner with a WrestleMania moment.

Throughout the match, though, the booking needs to be sure to set up future feuds. So while you want Naomi to ultimately pick up the win, there needs to be an escalation of the drama between Alexa Bliss and Mickie James. That way, you set up a feud coming out of Mania for those two.
