Takkarist McKinley

Edge, UCLA

There is no doubt that Dallas Cowboys have to be wondering what is going on this offseason. Last year, the Cowboys hit a home run in the draft, selecting Ezekiel Elliott out of Ohio State. In the fourth round, the team nabbed quarterback Dak Prescott, who would go on to be the NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year. Elliott did not do too shabby either, leading the NFL in rushing in one of the more dominant rookie seasons we have seen from a running back.

This offseason, the Cowboys have seen nearly their entire defensive backfield leave. Gone are cornerbacks Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr, along with safety Barry Church. There is still enough talent back there to get it done, but they are going to have to get more pressure on the quarterback to counter the losses. Takkarist McKinley is known for doing just that, and he would be a nice pick this late in the first round.

The report on McKinley is fuzzy due to the fact he has issues with his shoulder. Still, the tape does not lie, and he is one of the more explosive players in this draft. The Cowboys cannot afford to take a step back next season, as the rest of the division, aside from the Redskins, have really reloaded this offseason. If they can strike gold like they did in last year’s draft, this young  team should be a perennial playoff contender for the next 5-10 years.
