Alvin Kamara

Running Back, Tennessee

After getting one of the best pass rushing defensive linemen in the first round, the Green Bay Packers should try to upgrade their backfield. They just lost Eddie Lacy and they have yet to replace him. In fact, their projected starting running back for next season is a wide receiver by trade. Alvin Kamara would be an excellent fit in the Packers system.

Green Bay likes running backs who can do a bit of everything. Kamara fits this mold. He’s an effective runner as well as an underrated receiver out of the backfield. Kamara’s even an above average blocker, which should make him a favorite of Rodgers.

While he has some character issues stemming from an arrest in 2014 while at Alabama, he’s been a model citizen at Tennessee. Kamara also has minimal mileage on his legs, which is a good thing. This means the Packers can use him a bit more. However, it is slightly concerning Karma hasn’t proved his durability yet.

This would go against what the Packers typically do. They stay away from players with character issues. However, Kamara has grown since his Alabama days, so he should be an exception for this rule. The Packers can’t afford to let Ty Montgomery to be their starting running back in 2017.
