Rasul Douglas

Cornerback, West Virginia

The Green Bay Packers will finally address their secondary in the third round. They’ll do it by grabbing one of the best corners in the draft. Rasul Douglas from West Virginia. He has impressive size at 6-foot-2 and shut down some very good receivers during his senior season.

Douglas is a very physical corner who can give receivers fits. His speed isn’t outstanding, but he can hang with most NFL receivers. Douglas is also good at pressing receivers and making it hard for them to get off the line. His style of play should play well at Lambeau Field, especially once the weather gets bad.

During his senior season, Douglas had eight interceptions along with eight passes defensed. He’s a playmaker who can take advantage of mistakes. If the Packers can get Clay Matthews healthy, with their improved pass rush, Douglas should be able to be an excellent corner. In a division with some mediocre quarterbacks, he could feast.

Douglas can even provide some help to the rush defense, though his tackling must improve. His height allows him to win a lot of balls in the air, which helped him get those eight interceptions. Douglas could be an immediate starter for the Packers.
