High Priced Pitchers

Kenta Maeda – Los Angeles Dodgers ($9600): Maeda pitched 22 innings against the Padres last year and allowed just 14 hits while striking out 27 for an average of 21.2 per game. That lineup no longer has Matt Kemp, and to put it simply it will be one of the worst offenses in baseball this season. This current group of Padres is just 7-for-42 lifetime against Maeda with a combined OPS of just .508. As we like to say in DFS, all the Maeda tonight.

Lance McCullers – Houston Astros ($9500): If McCullers can stay healthy he should be one of the better pitchers in baseball. And after an excellent outing by Dallas Keuchel yesterday, Astors fans have to be very excited about their team’s chances this season. McCullers struck out 18 Mariners last year in just over 12 innings, good for an average of 27.7 FP over two games. He hasn’t allowed a homer to any current Mariner over 51 at-bats, and McCullers was outstanding at home last year with an average of 23.5 FP per game.

Jake Arrieta – Chicago Cubs ($10400): Arrieta has basically owned this current group of St. Louis Cardinals. They hit for a combined .235/.305/.330 against him over 179 at-bats with just two homers. They’ve struck out more times (50) than they have hits (42). Arrieta also had three wins against STL last year, and I’m looking for a big time start from him in his 2017 season debut.
