Catcher

High-Salary Option

Gary Sanchez $3400

Sanchez did not have a great game at the plate this past Sunday, going 0-5 with a strikeout. People may hesitate to roster him after his Opening Day debacle, but there are many reasons why he should stay in your lineup. Sanchez had six home runs against the Tampa Bay Rays last year and he only played in the last two months of the season (August and September).  Two thirds of his hits against the Rays last season were over the wall. One of his home runs was hit off of Jake Odorizzi, who he will be facing this evening. There is no reason to throw away Sanchez as an option since he had one bad game, because he is clearly the top option at catcher this evening. ****

Mid-Range Option

Willson Contreras $2900

In every series against the cardinals last year, Contreras hit a home run in the second game of each series. As concrete as this fact sounds though, the trend has already ended because Contreras hit a home run Sunday night in the first game of the series. However, there is still reason to believe that he can hit another bomb. Against Adam Wainwright last season, Contreras had four at-bats total with two hits and one home run. Wainwright is not what he used to be anymore and Contreras has started the season off hot already. ***

High-Value Option

Evan Gattis $2800

Gattis is not close to the level of play expected from Sanchez and Contreras tonight, but if you need to save a couple hundred dollars for another position, Gattis is the next best option. He hit three home runs and four doubles last year against the Mariners while collecting eight runs batted in. *
