Isaiah Hartenstein

PF/C, Zalgiris

Isaiah Hartenstein is a 7-foot-1 big man who can play either power forward or center. His measurements at the 2017 Nike Hoop Summit — namely his 7-foot-2 wingspan — should make teams feel better about his potential to play on the interior.

Hartenstein, though, is most attractive because of his ability to play on the perimeter. As a 7-footer, he has tremendous command as a ball-handler, often attacking comfortably from the 3-point line against defenders who aren’t used to facing a head of steam from a player his size. Hartenstein is a fluid athlete who does his best work in these situations. He’s still developing as a 3-point shooter, often taking them more than making them at this stage, but once his shot improves, it’ll make him an even more versatile offensive threat.

Defensively, there are the inevitable lapses that come with most young players. At just 18-years old, he’ll be one of the youngest in this class. He has also yet to actualize his size into much rebounding or rim protection.

Hartenstein can play as a floor-spacing big man in lineups with Brook Lopez or as the lone big in other lineups where Brooklyn could essentially roll with a five-out offensive system.
