  • Birthday: April 27, 1994 (Age: 22)
  • Career Statistics: .312/.374/.519, 30 HR, 89 RBI, 122 R, 8.0 WAR
  • 2016 Statistics: .308/.365/.512, 26 HR, 72 RBI, 105 R, 6.1 WAR
  • 2016 NL Rookie of the Year, All-Star, Silver Slugger

One of the top shortstop prospects in years, Corey Seager shot through the Dodgers farm system after being selected No. 18 overall in the 2012 MLB Draft. Seager never lasted more than 107 games at any level on the ladder, and made his big league debut as a 21-year old in 2015.

He showed flashes of brilliance right away and hit .337/.425/.561 with four home runs, 17 RBI and 17 runs scored in 27 games, which made the Dodgers comfortable enough to pencil him in to the Opening Day lineup in 2016.

The left-handed hitter didn’t just prove he could hit at the big league level; he immediately became a run producer for a pennant contender and quickly emerged as one of the top hitters in the game. Seager ran away with the NL Rookie of the Year Award, earned All-Star and Silver Slugger recognition and nearly won the NL MVP after hitting .308/.365/.512 with 26 home runs, 40 doubles and five triples. He drove in 72 runs and scored 105.

If Opening Day is any indication, Seager isn’t likely to suffer a sophomore slump. The 22-year old went 2-for-5 against the San Diego Padres and connected for his first home run of the season – a three-run shot.
