John Ross

WR, Washington

The decision to draft Marcus Mariota with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft has turned out to be a good one, as the third-year signal caller took a big step forward in 2016. As the team heads into the 2017 season, they have to be happy with the state of the franchise, as they are on the doorsteps of being a perennial playoff team. With two picks in the first round, the Titans can shore up two needs, and will likely take a wideout if they go cornerback at No. 5.

John Ross ran a blazing 4.22 40-yard dash during the NFL Scouting Combine, setting the record for fastest time every recorded at the event. While he is most certainly a speed demon, that is far from all he brings to the football field. Ross was the best wide receiver in a very deep Pac-12 last season, and will likely get the third wideout off the board in April.

Mariota needs a true WR1, as he was able to make great strides last season throwing to the likes of Rishard Matthews and Tajae Sharpe. The Titans have a solid tight end in Delanie Walker, though they will likely bolster that position at some point during the draft. Tennessee could go into the 2017 NFL season as the favorite in the AFC South, and it would not surprise this writer if they made it all the way to the Divisional Round.
