High Priced Pitchers

Madison Bumgarner – San Francisco Giants ($12500): Bumgarner is off to an excellent start both on the mound and at the plate. He struck out 11 in seven innings of work on opening day, totaling 28.2 fantasy points against Arizona, who has scored the most runs in baseball so far this season. Tonight he gets the Padres, certainly a below average offense.

Kyle Hendricks – Chicago Cubs ($9000): He doesn’t rack up the Ks like Bumgarner or Yu Darvish, but Hendricks still makes for an excellent play tonight against the Brewers, his first start of the season and first since Game 7 of the World Series last year. Current Brewers hitters are just 9-for-60 against Hendricks, and they’ve struck out 25 times while walking just twice. Ryan Braun is just 2-for-14 with five Ks lifetime against Hendricks, and Jonathan Villar and Domingo Santana are a combined 0-for-21.

Yu Darvish – Texas Rangers ($10500): Darvish was roughed up a bit on opening day and also walked more batters than he struck out. I’d be surprised if he has two bad outings in a row, so look for him to mow down the Oakland lineup tonight. If he does have another bad performance, I’d be fairly convinced he has an injury or something.
