Pitchers

Clayton Kershaw $10400 – Kershaw pitched fantastic against the Rockies in his one start against them last year. He pitched seven full innings, allowed only three hits while striking out six, and allowed zero runs in a winning effort. The only downside in the matchup today is that it is at Coors Field, a hitter friendly park. However, Kershaw has handled himself well against the Rockies and it should not be a problem today. ***

Chris Archer $9400 – Archer faced Toronto four times last season, finishing 1-1 with two no decisions, but recording a quality start in every game. Archer only allowed two earned runs in each game and averaged eight strike outs per game. If he can get the run support this year to also allow him a win, his fantasy point total will make any one who invests in him today very pleased. ***

Kyle Hendricks $9300 – Hendricks probably has one of the best chances as a pitcher to get a win today, which adds to his value, but scoring in other areas is where I may worry. He only averages six strikeouts per game last year against the Brewers and gave up more than five hits in three of the four games. Hendricks has the ability to score more fantasy points than any other pitcher today, but the questionable stats last year against the Brewers are what is holding me up. **

Kevin Gausman $7900 – Gausman pitched incredible against the New York Yankees last season, finishing 3-1 in six total starts and earning a quality start in every game. In two of the games he gave up less than three hits, he pitched past the sixth inning in every start, and he allowed zero earned runs in three of the six games. Overall he only allowed five runs total, including three home runs, but every player that hit a home run off him last year is no longer playing on the team. If he can continue to pitch the way he has in the past against the Yankees, Gausman will have a spectacular day on the mound. ****
