The third closer on our list of 25 players you need to claim off the waiver wire is Jeanmar Gomez. The Philadelphia Phillies do not stand to win a ton of games in 2017, but one thing is for sure, Gomez is going to be closing them out. The team actually looks better throughout the first week of the season, but there will be no banners flown in the City of Brotherly Love this year.

Still, Gomez is going to be very valuable in fantasy sports, because he has shown he can close the door on games. Last year, Gomez saved 37 games for a very bad Phillies team, and he should be able to hit that mark again this season. He has been in the league ten years, and while he is not a high strikeout guy, he does know how to get people out.

Closers are so important in fantasy baseball, and they really can make or break your week. If Gomez is on, expect him to notch you a few saves per week, but the Phillies have shown they can go quite a while without having a need for a closer. He is available in a high percentage of leagues, but the window to grab him will likely be closing sooner than later.
