Fourth Round

115

Jordan Leggett

Tight End, Clemson Tigers

This isn’t just a great draft class for pass rushers. The 2017 NFL Draft looks to be one of the best in the history of the tight end position. Alabama’s O.J. Howard looks to be a lock for the first round. Maybe Miami’s David Njoku gets in their as well?

While Carolina already has a premier No. 1 tight end Greg Olsen, why not look for a solid No. 2 to help quarterback Cam Newton in the passing game? The Panthers should take a national champion from nearby Clemson in Jordan Leggett at No. 115 in the fourth round.

Leggett’s stock has fallen from being a second-rounder before the bowl season. He has been somewhere between the third and sixth-best tight end throughout the draft process. However, inconsistent games down the stretch and a so-so showing at the combine has him slipping on most boards.

Getting overlooked in the draft process and playing in nearby Charlotte might be enough to spark a rise out of Leggett as early as this fall. Tight end is one position where teams can extract value in all rounds, as well as with undrafted free agents. Landing Leggett at No. 115 would be a steal for the Panthers with their fourth round selection.
