Fifth Round

152

Jordan Morgan

Offensive Guard, Kutztown Golden Bears

With these late-round picks, the Panthers should look to improve the two areas of their football team that they are the most vulnerable: the offensive line and the secondary. Trying to get a solid guard past the fifth round might be hard. Maybe Kutztown’s Jordan Morgan could be the pick at No. 152?

Sixth Round

192

Erik Magnuson

Offensive Tackle, Michigan Wolverines

While landing a solid guard in the sixth or seventh round might be difficult, there will be tackles available in the latter part of the day three selections. Worst case scenario, Carolina can grab a swing tackle for competitive purposes. Grabbing a player like Erik Magnuson at No. 192 feels promising.

Seventh Round

233

Brian Allen

Cornerback, Utah Utes

With the No. 233 pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Panthers should select cornerback Brian Allen out of the University of Utah. Carolina is still rebuilding its secondary around promising young cornerback James Bradberry. A little competition in the form of Allen wouldn’t hurt.

Overall, the Panthers should be able address most of their needs in the 2017 NFL. Frankly, the could use a ninth pick to add depth along the defensive line, but franchise tagging Kawann Short this past March kind of solves that dilemma anyway. Having three picks in the first two rounds will be clutch for the Panthers at the end of the month.
