Tarell Basham

Edge, Ohio

With the move at defensive coordinator from Greg Williams to Wade Phillips, the scheme changes and the type of players that fit that scheme must be adjusted accordingly. The biggest issue for the Rams in the direct present will be an edge rusher. Robert Quinn will likely slide into more of an outside linebacker role, but he has never played off of the ball before.

Connor Barwin was signed to fit the scheme, but he has lost a step and should be looked at as more of a leader in the transition than a player who will change the team. Basham is a great fit, and as a small school player, will fall until the point he is a great value. Basham has long arms and is able to use his length and strength to create separation and get around lineman. He can learn behind Barwin, and the hope would be he can take his spot and become a starting edge rusher in the NFL under the new Philips scheme.

Tyler Orlosky

Center, West Virginia

Back to helping Jared Goff, and if the Rams could find a starting center in the fourth round, it would be a major win. Orlosky is a team captain at West Virginia and a three-year starter. He lacks much upside, but he can easily be a starter in the NFL. If the Rams can find a battery mate for Jared Goff in his second year, and a leader who is locked in to help bring Goff along it would be a major win. To find that in the fourth round is icing on the cake.
