2017 NFL Mock Draft: Can we trust the Cleveland Browns?
By John Buhler
This will be the first shocker of the first round. While Temple Owls outside linebacker Haason Reddick will be a highly productive player at the next level, who would have thought that the former two-star recruit would be a top-15 pick?
The Indianapolis Colts have easily the worst defensive personnel in football. New general manager Chris Ballard has to make sense of the mess he inherited from rampant Ryan Grigson botch-jobs from yesteryear’s drafts.
Ballard has to go with a defensive player at No. 15. It’s difficult to figure out where Reddick will play in the Colts defense, but he’s the best Swiss Army knife on that side of the ball in this draft. Ideally, he’d play on the edge at outside linebacker. Reddick can play with a hand in the dirt at defensive end. In nickel and dime packages, maybe he can play some middle linebacker?
At Temple, Reddick helped the Owls win their first conference championship in the 1960s. He was the most impressive player at the 2017 Reese’s Senior Bowl. Reddick continued to impress at the 2017 Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. Maybe he makes his first professional home there in a few day’s time?
