2017 NFL Mock Draft: Can we trust the Cleveland Browns?
By John Buhler
With the Chicago Bears spending big money on Mike Glennon in free agency, it doesn’t seem realistic that the Bears would go quarterback at No. 3. They may not address that position until the 2018 NFL Draft, if we’re being totally honest.
Since head coach John Fox needs to win right away to keep his job heading into 2018, look for he and general manager Ryan Pace to go with a defensive stud. The one secondary player that is not going to bust is LSU Tigers safety Jamal Adams.
Adams looks to be the next great defensive back to come from the Baton Rouge SEC West powerhouse. He has excellent ball skills, great coverage abilities and could play in a multitude of ways in the Bears secondary in year one.
Don’t expect Adams to use the Peanut Punch like Charles Tillman did in the Bears secondary for years. However, he’s got a chance to be a solid starter in the back-end of a strong NFL defense for the next decade. Chicago needs to get the best technician in the defensive backfield at No. 3 in this draft. The pick would have to be Adams out of LSU.
