2017 NFL Mock Draft: Can we trust the Cleveland Browns?
By John Buhler
The Atlanta Falcons are one of the few teams in the NFL that don’t have any glaring holes heading into the draft. They are in the same camp with the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots in that regard. This is a team that went to a Super Bowl last year.
Picking at No. 31 in the first round of the draft, Atlanta needs to go one of two positions: pass rusher or guard. Western Kentucky Hilltoppers guard Forrest Lamp won’t likely be there at No. 31. Look for Atlanta to go pass rusher from a school that general manager Thomas Dimitroff loves to draft guys from.
Missouri Tigers defensive end Charles Harris looks to be the next defensive stud to come out of the SEC East program. Dimitroff got some great years out of William Moore and Sean Weatherspoon out of Missouri. Harris could be that guy Atlanta needs to play opposite Vic Beasley in the Falcons pass rush.
Missouri has been a wreck since long-time head coach Gary Pinkel’s final season in Columbia two years ago. The Tigers’ downfall in the SEC wasn’t because of a lack of effort on Harris’ behalf. After Myles Garrett, Jonathan Allen and Derek Barnett, Harris was the fourth best pass rusher in the SEC last season. He could thrive playing for Dan Quinn in Atlanta.
