If rumors are true, it looks like Halo 3 may be getting revived on the PC. Hopefully, it gets the anniversary treatment as well.

As of late, it’s not secret that the Halo franchise isn’t as great as it once was. However, there was a time where Halo was at the top of its game. Back in 2007, Halo 3 released on the Xbox 360. This is a bold statement, but we think it’s the best first-person shooter of all time. Now, if the rumors are true, it seems like we’ll be able to revisit this incredible game on the PC.

According to WWG, rumors suggest Halo 3 will be returning to the PC. During an event in Korea hosted by AMD, they played a video to promote a new line of GPUs. If you pay close attention to the video, you can spot a Halo 3 image, which was used for promotional purposes prior to the games release.

As of right now, we’re thinking of it as a revival for the current generation of gaming. Sometimes, we feel that HD remasters or re-releases of certain games aren’t entirely necessary. We’ll make an exception for this since we’re completely on board.

However, there seems to be another rumor as well. Halo 3 released almost exactly 10 years ago. We know that Microsoft has done anniversary editions of both Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2. So, why not do it for Halo 3?

This may be a stretch since they bundled it up with The Master Chief Collection. But, it was just a performance upgrade while still being the same game. With the Xbox One supporting Xbox Play Anywhere and the Project Scorpio releasing this Fall, it’s possible that Halo 3 Anniversary could be a reality.

If they’re able to release this both on the Xbox consoles and PC, we could be seeing a cross-play feature, which would be all sorts of awesome. Let’s not get our hopes us since nothing is official. We’ll most likely get a confirmation of this at this years E3 show.
