The Astros were road warriors this week, and won four out of five games thanks in large part to a breakout performance at the plate. After losing 6-0 to Seattle Monday – the sixth time the club had been held to three or fewer runs in the first eight games – Houston won 7-5, 10-5, 7-2, and 10-6 to run the table the rest of the week.

This time last week, the Angels were in first place and coming off what will probably be the largest come-from-behind ninth-inning victory we’ll see in 2017. Seven days later, the clubs is riding the longest losing streak in the big leagues.

Perhaps the rarest feat of the week occurred in Oakland, where the A’s were rained out for the first time since 2014 on Sunday.

No big league pitcher is off to a better start to the season than Seattle lefty James Paxton. In 21 innings, Paxton has allowed just eight hits and zero runs. He tossed 15 shutout frames across two starts over the past seven days, which included 17 strikeouts – and most importantly – two Mariners wins.

The week started well for the Rangers, who took two of three from the Angels on the road, but Texas was swept by the Mariners in Seattle, with a blown save by Sam Dyson the exclamation point in a 8-7 loss Sunday in which Texas led 7-6 going into the bottom of the ninth. Dyson is 0-3 with three blown saves and a 27.00 ERA in six games this year.
