FanDuel MLB Picks: Fantasy Baseball April 18
Pitchers
High Salary Option
Max Scherzer $11400 – Through two games this season, Scherzer has only allowed four hits in each while striking out 17 batters. He has pitched past the sixth inning in each start and has only allowed three earned runs total. Scherzer is striking out his opponents 32% of the time and is pitching in a game with the second lowest implied run total. There will be plenty of fantasy points for him to take advantage of tonight. ***
Yu Darvish $10700 – Darvish has increased his fantasy point total in every start this season. In his last start he scored 61 with 10 strikeouts and seven innings pitched. Darvish is holding opposing batters to a combined .274 average and striking his enemy out 31% of the time. He is pitching in the game with the lowest implied run total of the evening and will be scoring fantasy points at will tonight in Oakland. ****
High Value Option
Luis Severino $7700 – Severino has been pitching great through two starts this season, averaging 40 fantasy points a games and scoring almost 60 in his last appearance while striking out 11 batters. The White Sox are projected to score the least amount of runs overall as a team tonight and will not put up much of a fight against Severino. If you are going cheap at pitcher this evening, Severino is a great option. ***
Catchers
High Salary Option
Welington Castillo $2800 – Castillo is batting .314 with three runs batted in and three runs scored so far this season. He has yet to hit a home run through nine games played, but he has a great matchup tonight to turn that around. The Reds righty Bronson Arroyo is dragging his 9.90 earned run average on to the mound with him, as he has allowed right handed batters to smash .568 against him. The Orioles are projected to score the most runs tonight and expect Castillo to be a major part of the action. ****
High Value Option
Manny Pina $2300 – Pina is hitting a spectacular .462 through eight games played while averaging 9.26 fantasy points. He gets a decent matchup against the Cubs lefty Brett Anderson, who allows right handed batters to hit .369 against him. Anderson only strikes out his opponents 10% of the time, so it is highly unlikely that Pina will not make contact with a ball tonight. ***
