Despite some late season issues, the Seattle Seahawks claimed the NFC West in 2016. What does this upcoming season’s schedule have in store?
It’s been five straight years and counting for the Seattle Seahawks when it comes to playoff appearances. But despite winning the NFC West in 2016, things didn’t seem quite right for Pete Carroll’s 10-5-1 club by season’s end. After opening 7-2-1 in their first 10 outings, quarterback Russell Wilson and company split their first six regular-season contests. And after a playoff win over the Detroit Lions, the ‘Hawks were humbled by the Atlanta Falcons in the next round.
With a first-place finish comes some tough assignments. Seattle will get a chance to evoke a little revenge when it hosts the defending NFC champions. But there are road trips to Green Bay and Dallas as well.
These are the home and road opponents in 2017:
Home: San Francisco, Los Angeles Rams, Arizona, Washington, Philadelphia, Houston, Indianapolis, Atlanta
Away: San Francisco, Los Angeles Rams, Arizona, New York Giants, Dallas, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Green Bay
Here is the week-by-week schedule (updated upon release):

As far as the free-agent period, the Seahawks’ big-name pickup was former Packers’ running back Eddie Lacy. He hopes to help the team get back on track when it comes to the ground game, one that slipped to 25th in the NFL in 2016. It will be fascinating to see the former Green Bay workhorse when he and his new team travel to Lambeau Field this year.

Meanwhile, this is still one of the better defensive units in the league and should be a lot more formidable again with a healthy Earl Thomas back at free safety. But will the “Legion of Doom” still include charter member Richard Sherman?
