21. 1966-67 New York Knicks

For most of the 1966-67 NBA season, the New York Knicks hovered around the .500 record mark and were just your typical average team to make the final seed in the playoffs. This was under the format of four teams per conference reaching the playoffs.

However, the Knicks decided to lose seven of their last eight games before going into the playoffs. That slide alone was enough to keep them out of the No. 3 seed in the conference. At 36-45, this Knicks team was a bad playoff team.

Willis Reed had guys on his team that could play, but they just fell apart at the wrong time that season. To go into the postseason losing that much set themselves up for the 30-point loss the Celtics handed them right off the bat.

They managed to get a victory and not get swept completely, but this Knicks team shall be known for the way they ended the year. Their record was nothing special, but they really just let things grind to a complete halt and it carried over as expected into the playoffs.
