30 worst NBA playoff teams of all time
20. 1991-92 Miami Heat
Before Pat Riley arrived in town, the 1991-92 Miami Heat were still a relatively young franchise looking to make waves in the Eastern Conference. Led by Glen Rice, the Heat managed to make it into the playoffs with a 38-44 record — their first trip to the postseason in franchise history.
Having the worst record of a playoff team that season meant getting Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in the first round. Perhaps it was the beating that they took here in this series that led them to retiring Jordan’s number up into the rafters later on.
Regardless, just making it was a milestone for the franchise and something they were able to build upon as they worked their way over the next decade or so into becoming an Eastern Conference power.
All the good vibes of this team are certainly something that Heat fans will hold dear to their heart for a long time. They were still a bad playoff team, but they were a playoff team at a time that helped launched a great basketball franchise.
