14. 1986-87 Denver Nuggets

No one did more for the Denver Nuggets than Alex English in the 1980’s. He helped put the franchise on the map in the NBA and was one of the unsung heroes of the league. He was as great of a superstar as the franchise has ever had and probably their best.

He took them on some playoff runs and really helped spark the franchise. That being said, his 1986-87 team was a bad playoff team that really was a two man show between English and Fat Lever.

The duo managed to pull the team to a 37-45 record, which certainly put them at the bottom of the conference. However, just making the playoffs was a success in itself and the Nuggets got to match up against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Unfortunately, there is almost nothing good to take away from that playoff series. The Nuggets weren’t competitive in any of the games and were blown out in all three of them. Plenty of points were scored and that was common to the franchise, but they were a bad playoff team and certainly played the part in being swept.
