10. 1996-97 Los Angeles Clippers

It can’t be a list of bad playoff teams without the Los Angeles Clippers on it. Before they were succeeding with Chris Paul at the helm, the Clippers were the basement of the NBA for years and the team that couldn’t do anything right.

Somehow during the 1996-97 season, the Los Angeles Clippers weren’t bad enough to miss the playoffs. A 36-46 record was almost unheard of for the franchise, as they were used to 17-win seasons and just about anything that could go wrong.

Who knows, this might even be considered a good playoff team for the Clippers as they just rarely got in. Nonetheless, they were promptly swept by the eventual Western Conference Champion Utah Jazz in the first round.

Loy Vaught and Malik Sealy headlined this Clippers team that no one likely remembers. After their successful achievement of making the playoffs with a losing record, the team followed it up by winning only 17 games the next season. These were certainly dark days in Los Angeles.
