29. 2006-07 Orlando Magic

The Detroit Pistons had a reign of terror in the Eastern Conference to the point where they were either in the NBA Finals or Conference Finals every year in the mid-2000’s. So if a team ran up on them in the first round or Conference Demifinals, they were toast.

Looking back at history, the 2006-07 Orlando Magic were not yet at that stage where Stan Van Gundy turned them around and graced them with great basketball. No, this Brian Hill-led squad of Dwight Howard, an aging Grant Hill and a mixed bag of whatever, ultimately was a bad playoff team.

At 40-42, this team was nothing worth getting excited over and it’s the reason Van Gundy was brought in to change things. This team also had the distinction of getting in with a losing record, just like the rest of the teams on this list.

When they met up with the Detroit Pistons in the first round, it was a clean sweep. It was, “thanks for coming, but so long,” for the Magic. The bottom barrel Eastern Conference teams have been easy to forget for a while now and if you blinked, that year’s version of the Magic were already eliminated.
