Denver Broncos and TeamWorks partner to add franchise to list of growing clients in professional sports industry
Just ahead of Thursday’s first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos have shifted the software they use for internal operations.
The Denver Broncos and TeamWorks have become the latest relationship between the software company and an NFL franchise, bringing the number of TeamWorks’ clients associated with the league to five. The San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions and the NFL Players Association are the other four clients.
"“The Denver Broncos fully embrace innovation and technology to help us win both on and off the field,” said Russ Trainor, Vice President of Information Technology for the Denver Broncos, in a press release. “Implementing Teamworks’ simplified communication method across the organization will help us optimize internal operations while adjusting to ever-changing mobile technology.”"
The Durham, North Carolina-based TeamWorks will streamline the franchise’s communication, scheduling, travel planning and player information management. Through its desktop and mobile applications, team personnel will be able to stay in constant and clear contact with each other on a variety of matters. More than that, however, it helps the Broncos and the other three teams who use the tech to appear on the cutting edge for potential free agents and rookies.
TeamWorks’ founder, Zach Maurides, played football at Duke University, starting all 12 games in his senior season at guard in 2004. It was his own problems in communicating with the team staff as a player that prompted him to develop the software. Drawing on his experience as a player at a Power 5 conference school, Maurides believes that teams which use TeamWorks have an edge.

"“Most NFL players and staff can’t remember life before smartphones,” stated Maurides in a press release. “Our collaboration with the Broncos emphasizes how teams are looking for ways to reach millennial athletes on their preferred mediums and accommodate a workforce that is never at its desk. Our platform doesn’t just centralize information but delivers it to players and staff in a way they are accustomed to consuming it: through mobile devices. We are excited to assist the Denver Broncos and demonstrate the many benefits of updating a franchise’s internal operations.”"

We will know who the Broncos will take 20th overall on Thursday night, barring any trades of course. It’s likely that a majority of the conversation about that decision along with the first-round picks of the 49ers, Cardinals and Lions will be held on TeamWorks software.
