Big 12 Football: Biggest offseason question for every team
Kansas State – What’s Bill Snyder’s status?
In February, Kansas State’s Bill Snyder was diagnosed with throat cancer, and it’s especially worrisome with him at 77-years-old. However, he remains the program’s head coach for the 2017 season and even showed up at spring practice. Snyder, according to CBS Sports, is also expected to recover fully now that the treatments are over. How long can he last, though?
The article notes he’s having a difficult time speaking, which is obviously a concern toward communicating with players. That’s only a small detail, as his health could end up being too much to handle the rigors of a full college football season. For now, that doesn’t seem to be the case with the upcoming campaign.
Could Kansas State start prepping for another era without Snyder? It’s hard to imagine, after all the years he’s been there through two different stints, but his time at the helm may be winding down. Maybe we find out before the year starts that it’s Snyder’s final run, giving him a celebratory season where everyone can honor him.

There’s always the chance this doesn’t happen, and Snyder decides to stick around past this year. It’s something to monitor through the rest of the spring and summer.
